NHS Dance Team

The NHS Dance Team was formed in 2012  beginning with 7 brave young ladies who had tons of spirit!  Since then, we have grown to 8 females and one male on the team! We attend summer camp with the Universal Dance Association, perform in parades, the Kilmarnock Dance Extravaganza, Friday night Football Games and Basketball Games, offer a fall and spring dance clinic for girls every year, and much more!  It has been a whirlwind 8 years of fun, hard work, and lots of memories!  Our goal is to bolster school spirit with dance and provide fun entertainment for our NHS fans!

Originally created and coached by Holly Swann, the NHS Dancers are selected at a competitive audition, and rising 9th-12th graders are invited to audition. Students who make the dance team are required maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and have a clean disciplinary record, attend practices, competitions and performances, not have visible tattoos or body piercings when wearing uniforms or costumes, represent the school appropriately at all times (on or off campus, and on social media), not participate or be party to any illegal activity, and are strongly encouraged to attend the 4-day overnight dance camp hosted by the Universal Dance Association (UDA).

In 2019, Laura Raciborski began coach the ISDT, and in 2020, Holly Swann returned as coach.

The dance team season: May Auditions through March of the following year.

The NHS Dance Team does not have a given budget by the county.
Therefore, we do a lot of fundraising.  Members must provide their own tights, dance shoes, and raise money to help pay for costumes, uniforms and practice/camp wear, and camp/competitions.
Once the dance team members are chosen, fundraising for camp and dance uniforms begins IMMEDIATELY!!
