JROTC Formal Military Ball
On February 18, 2023, Northumberland and Rappahannock High School Army Junior ROTC cadets participated in the Annual Joint Military Ball.

The Military Ball or dining out is an age-old tradition. The Ball is an occasion for which cadets dress in their finest uniforms. This event allowed cadets, instructors, and guests to interact in a social, albeit formal, setting. The evening consisted of a formal receiving line, the posting of the colors (flags), a formal dinner, a guest speaker, and a dance. There was a terrific turnout, with 150 students attending the annual event.
Cadets will learn how to dress at formal occasions, how to conduct themselves, how to interact with other guests, build and maintain comradeship and esprit de corps, celebrate achievements, and have fun at the same time.

While being a momentous occasion, it was also a time to recognize some of our cadets for their exceptional contribution to the program. Cadet Major Thorn Thompson, Cadet Command Sergeant Major Ryland Pearson, and Evelyn Saunders received the Honor Excellence Coin for their exemplary achievements. The Northumberland High school Army Junior ROTC company is exceptionally proud of our cadets.
Indeed, this was a groundbreaking partnership event, and we hope everyone who came this year will join us as Northumberland JROTC hosts the 2024 JROTC Formal Military Ball during the 2023-2024 School Year.
